Aries remains were cremated in accordance with Christian rituals, and his ashes were scattered across Matahari Terbit Beach in Sanur on Thursday, Pande Wayan Suteja, Neka, founder and manager of the Neka Ubud Museum, stated here, Friday.
Arie had been paralyzed and blind for the last four years, Neka revealed.
Born in Zaandam, the Netherlands, on April 15, 1916, he had lived in Bali since 1956. Arie had dedicated his life to teach painting and sculpting to the Penestan villagers in Ubud, Gianyar, Bali Province.
Arie had produced several painting and sculpture masterpieces and had displayed his works in a few countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, the United States, and Japan.
He had received several awards from the Bali provincial government and Gianyar district administration.
