In observance of the fifth anniversary of the 2011 disaster in north eastern Japan, the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) published "IRIDeS Quarterly Vol.7" and "IRIDeS Report Vol.4" in English to summarize its accomplishments thus far and to introduce its latest research activities.

About IRIDeS
The International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) was founded at Tohoku University in Japan in April 2012, one year after the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. It is unique as a multi-disciplinary disaster research institute encompassing both science and the humanities, and is focused on applying lessons learned from the 2011 disaster to build a safer society both in Japan and abroad.
