President Director of the Lion Air Group that operates Batik Air, Edward Sirait, said Batik Air flight had been "released" to take off by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) but while it was taking off, it collided with the Transnusa aircraft which was being moved with the help of a tractor.
"Because of that, the pilot in command decided to cancel the take off to ensure passengers safety," he said.
He said Batik Air ID 7703 was carrying 49 passengers and seven crew and it has been confirmed that all of them were safe and would be flown on some other plane.
"Following what has happened, we will wait for the result of the investigation by an agency that has the authority to conduct such probe," he said.(*)
