Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia wants to host the 10th Asia-Pacific Scout Leaders Meeting in 2017, the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian National Scouts for Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Rusdi, stated here on Friday.

This plan was put across in the first meeting of the Asia-Pacific Committee and Sub-Committee for Scouting, organized by the Asia Pacific Regional Scout Committee (APRSC) in Jakarta. The meeting that began on April 8 will continue till April 12, 2016.

"It is an opportunity and a challenge for us to be the host of the event," Rusdi added.

There were 112 participants in the first meeting from 18 countries, namely Australia, the Philippines, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Maldives, Singapore, Hong Kong, Nepal, South Korea, Malaysia, Ethiopia, the USA, and Indonesia.

Discussions focused on improving the capacities of scout members, scouts management and finance, rebranding and the relevance of scouts.

"The five days meeting will also promote the 10th Indonesian National Jamboree in August," Rusdi said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Scouts, Adhyaksa Dault, added that the 10th Asia-Pacific Scout Leaders Meeting is very important for the development of Indonesian scouts and those from the Asia-Pacific countries.

"Many strategic issues will be discussed at the meeting," the former Minister of Youth and Sports added.
