The meeting was held on Monday at the Adlon Kempinsky Hotel in Berlin, the capital of the German Federal Republic.
The Indonesian representatives attending the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Franky Sibarani, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Fauzi Bowo.
The CEOs from several German companies such as Mayer Werf GambH & Co KG, Ferrostaal GmBh, and Bayer AG attended the meeting.
The meeting kicked off the presidents working visit to Germany.
Meanwhile, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Indonesia (Kadin) has targeted the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Indonesian and European companies to be realized during President Jokowis visit to Europe on April 17-23, 2016.
President Jokowi is scheduled to visit four countries: Germany, Britain, Belgium, and the Netherlands. He is being accompanied by several Indonesian entrepreneurs of Kadin, including its chairman, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
Rosan stated that the signing of MoUs in the presence of the president was a concrete step towards boosting economic growth in Indonesia.
"The signing of MoUs in the presidents presence is a concrete contribution to the nations economic development," he affirmed.
During the occasion, Deputy Chairman for International Relations of Kadin Shinta Widjaja Kamdani stated that Kadin had brought along several business representatives from various sectors such as energy, industry, agribusiness, telecommunications, and maritime. These delegates will meet business representatives from several countries during a business forum.
"This is a very important activity to enhance or to attract more new potential investment to Indonesia and to accelerate the achievement of trade cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union, which is targeted to be completed within the next two years," Shinta stated.
Kadin hoped for the signing of US$875 million worth of MoUs, in the form of business-to-business agreements, between the business representatives of Indonesia and Germany.
It comprised the signing of an MoU between ANTAM and Ferrostaal-Cronimet worth $800 million, an agreement between Myer Werft and Indonesia Port Corporation worth $40 million, and a $35 million agreement between APRIL and Inava.(*)
