"All countries must help and cooperate with each other to mitigate the terrorism issue through intelligence-sharing, military, social, and technology systems," Chief of the agency Commissioner General Tito Karnavian stated here on Tuesday.
The agency has held a general briefing on counterterrorism, which was attended by foreign ambassadors from countries, including Turkey, Belgium, France, Pakistan, Australia, Tunisia, and Iraq.
Karnavian noted that counterterrorism efforts should be stepped up at the global level as several international terror networks had begun operating across borders.
"Therefore, the impacts of extreme ideologies are also spreading globally among several people," Karnavian added.
The chief affirmed that terrorism had become a multi-level threat that transcended borders and had also affected other regions.
Thus, he emphasized the need to improve cooperation among nations to prevent acts of terror and the spread of extremist values. Massive and integral counterterrorism actions must be implemented in a sustainable manner to banish terrorism.
Additionally, the International Cooperation Deputy of the agency Inspector General Petrus Golose stated that terrorism had become a global problem.
The emergence of foreign terrorist fighters has pushed the international community to unite in combating terrorism, Golose pointed out.
"Terrorism has become our enemy. The world should stand united to combat terrorist crimes," Golose added.(*)
