"To guard the event, the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police will involve personnel from the Indonesian Defense Forces, transportation office, and civilian and security officers, among others," Chief of the Jakarta Police Inspector General Moechgiyarto stated here, Friday.
Moechgiyarto urged workers to stage rallies peacefully without disturbing the security situation and violating public rights.
Based on an agreement reached during a coordinating meeting with labor union leaders, the rallies will be staged at a distance of at least 100 meters from the State Palace, Parliament Building, and Horse Statue, among other things.
Moechgiyarto called on the public to carry out their routine activities as usual and to not harbor any concerns during the International Labor Day celebrations.
The labor union leaders have made assurance that the event would be held in an orderly manner without disturbing the day-to-day activities of the general public, he added.(*)
