"The EU wants to continue its cooperation with Indonesia, both through bilateral cooperation and the G-20, to resolve all global issues," Guerend said at a press conference on the "European Month 2016," here on Monday.
Such cooperation, he added, is expected to continue in the fields of economics, environment, and fostering peace and stability in the world.
Meanwhile, the Head of Political, Press and Information of the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, Julio Arias, said the EU and Indonesia also cooperate in every activity that encourages religious tolerance.
"The EU has a cooperation project with Islamic boarding schools to develop their curriculum in order to enforce the value of tolerance," he said.
In addition, Arias said, the EU is also working with an Indonesian Islamic movement, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), to promote the concept of tolerance in Islam in the country.
The Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, Franck Viault, added that the EU and Indonesia also cooperate in the area of human rights.
He said the annual report about cooperation between the EU and Indonesia will be presented during the launch of the Blue Book of EU-Indonesia 2016 on May 11, 2016.
The books launch is part of a series during the Month of Europe to commemorate the founding of the European Union.
In addition, the European Month will feature a seminar, entitled "Promoting good governance: transparency and accountability."(*)
