After a trial removal of the 3-in-1 policy for one month, we will revoke it."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, familiarly known as Ahok, is formulating a gubernatorial regulation to revoke the 3-in-1 traffic policy.

"After a trial removal of the 3-in-1 policy for one month, we will revoke it," Ahok stated here on Friday.

The governor had observed a reduction in traffic on Jakartas main roads following the 30-day trial removal.

After the trial removal was introduced, some drivers have opted to use alternate routes, while there has been an increase in the number of commuters using means of public transportation in Jakarta, such as the Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit and free city buses, Ahok noted.

"During the trial period, the number of passengers using double decker buses had increased to four thousand per day. As many as six double decker buses ply in the capital city, and we plan to increase their fleet," Ahok affirmed.

The Jakarta administration will revoke the 3-in-1 policy on May 16, 2016.

The 3-in-1 policy was applied to reduce congestion as it could restrict the number of vehicles plying in the city.

The policy was imposed on Jakartas five main avenues: Sisingamangaraja, Jenderal Sudirman, M.H. Thamrin, Medan Merdeka Barat, and Jenderal Gatot Subroto roads.
