I still urge the ministers to participate in supervising them."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has urged coordinating ministers and the development planning minister to participate in supervising hundreds of strategic projects that are currently underway.

"Although I continue to monitor most of the projects, I still urge the ministers to participate in supervising them," President Jokowi remarked while opening a limited cabinet meeting to evaluate the implementation of strategic projects at the Presidential Palace on Monday.

Jokowi expressed hope that the coordinating ministers, National Development Planning Board, and the Presidential Staff Office will be able to evaluate the "real time" status of the strategic projects to identify any obstacles and to address them immediately.

The head of state affirmed that there were 225 strategic projects spread across 13 sectors, and the relevant ministers should ensure that projects related to the development of road and rail infrastructure, airports, clean water facilities, dams, seaports, agriculture, maritime, and those in border areas run smoothly.

Jokowi added that of the 225 strategic projects, 56 percent were being implemented, while the rest were in the planning stage.

The president noted that as many as 225 strategic projects were being carried out all over the archipelago in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua.
