"Perhaps, there will be discussion (about the case) during the bilateral talks between President Prabowo and the Brazilian president, but we must wait," Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Penitentiary Affairs Yusril Ihza Mahendra stated in a press conference here on Friday.
President Prabowo is scheduled to attend the BRICS Summit at Rio’s Museum of Modern Art on July 6–7, 2025, and to hold a bilateral meeting in Brasília on July 8–9, 2025.
Mahendra said that so far, the Indonesian government has not received any diplomatic letters or other notifications from Brazil inquiring about the death of Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins atop Mount Rinjani, West Nusa Tenggara, last month.

He noted that the Brazilian government sent a military aircraft to repatriate Marins' body but did not submit any formal complaints or inquiries at that time.
Mahendra said he understood that Marins' family and the Brazilian Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU) have many questions regarding her death.
He also acknowledged that Marins' family is still mourning, and noted that the Brazilian DPU focuses on human rights issues similar to Indonesia’s National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM).
Although the incident may be discussed by the presidents during their bilateral meeting, President Prabowo is unlikely to meet with the DPU while in Brazil.
"It is another case if the President want to meet Marins' family. I have no idea about it, as it will be a matter for the president personally. Still, I have not received such a request," Mahendra remarked.
