Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini will have the same chance as other candidate if she runs for the Jakarta governorship in 2017, an Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician said.

"All the candidates have an equal chance. We only need austerity and circumspection to decide them by looking at the latest condition," Arteria Dahlan said here on Monday.

Arteria said the PDIP will make the public surprised at the candidate it will nominate in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

What is clear, the PDIP will always listen to the aspirations of the Jakarta residents in nominating its candidate for the gubernatorial election, he said.

The candidate must be able to showcase the PDIP as a populist and ideological party, he said.

The PDIP will most likely form harmonious coalition with the Greater Indonesian Movement (Gerindra) Party in the 2017 gubernatorial election in Jakarta, he added.

Gerindra politician Bambang Riyanto said earlier the party is determined to build a new force in the gubernatorial election by coalescing with the PDIP and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

"For the time being, I see there will be a coalition between Gerindra, PDIP and PKS. Gerindra, along with the PDIP and the PKS is trying to create a new force," he said.

Gerindra has appointed Sandiaga Uno to run for the Jakarta governorship. But since it has no sufficient seats in the Jakarta legislative assembly it must coalesce with other parties.(*)
