Gulen is a US-based Muslim cleric who was accused of orchestrating last months violent coup attempt in Turkey.
Retno said she had summoned the Turkish ambassador to Indonesia on Monday, urging him to seek consular access for the representative office of Indonesia in Ankara to meet the two arrested Indonesian students.
The Indonesian representative in Ankara also continued to seek ways to get consular access to offer maximum assistance to the two Indonesian students.
"We continue to make efforts to gain consular access. Last Friday, our ambassador in Ankara met with the deputy president of higher education, and on Saturday, I discussed the matter over the telephone with the Turkish foreign minister," Retno remarked.
According to Retno, the Turkish foreign minister has promised to immediately coordinate on the developments related to the arrest of the two Indonesian female students.
The Indonesian students were arrested by the Turkish authority on August 11 for allegedly joining the Gulen movement.(*)
