Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Commission on Anti-Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan) has asked the government to immediately restore the rights of online prostitution victims, some of whom are under-aged.

"The government should prioritize the law enforcement and victim recovery process. We have asked the state to guarantee that similar incidents do not recur elsewhere," Komnas Perempuan Chairperson Azriana remarked here Friday.

Police on Wednesday night cracked a case of online prostitution involving under-aged children being made to serve homosexuals in a hotel in Cipayung in Puncak area, Bogor, West Java.

All stakeholders should see the vulnerability of child prostitution in that case, which shows a lack of state protection for children, Azriana emphasized. Moreover, such cases happening in Bogor were not new for Indonesia.

The government should be able to restore the rights of victims, especially those who are still children, and ensure that they are not affected by excessive publicity, she added.

In early August 2016, the police detected an online prostitution business in Puncak area, where boys were traded to serve homosexuals via the social networking site Facebook.

Subsequently, the police monitored the Facebook account belonging to AR for several weeks. Then, in an undercover operation, they struck a deal and eventually arrested AR and two other suspects Wednesday night.

In addition, the police also rescued seven victims, six of them under-aged boys and one aged 18 years.

Of the six aged between 12 and 15 years, five are students and one is a dropout.

Complete attention would be given to cases of forced online prostitution for homosexuals, involving underage children, Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa assured.

"We are very concerned about this case. The task of the social affairs ministry is to ensure rehabilitation of the victims," Parawansa remarked at the police headquarters in Jakarta Wednesday.

The boys, who are victims in this case, will be counseled and will undergo psychosocial therapy to ameliorate their mental condition, according to her.

The victims are still undergoing medical examinations to check whether they have contracted any infections.
