"The main basis of smart city development in Yogyakarta is smart culture. It means that every smart city should be developed based on Yogyakartas culture of politeness," the Head of Yogyakartas Information and Telecommunication Technology (TIT) Division, Sukadarisman, said here on Friday.
According to him, the smart city will be developed in such a way that it integrates the cultural characteristics of Yogyakarta.
He hoped cooperation between the administration and IBM will speed up the realization of smart city and smart citizens in the city.
Assistance in various forms will be provided by the computer company and will strengthen information systems and infrastructure. A data warehouse will also be developed.
Meanwhile, the Head of Regional Development Planning Board of Yogyakarta, Edy Muhammad, said the development of smart city will cover education and tourism, as also environment, governance, economics, society and disaster management.
So far, the smart city program in Yogyakarta has been manifested in a variety of public services, such as online school registration, redressal of complaints, information services, advisory services, student learning guidance and funeral administration.
The IBM Indonesias Country Manager for Communication and Public Service, Ronny Sumantri, said IBM provides insight for the Yogyakarta City administration in developing the smart city.
"Yogyakarta already has good infrastructure to realize the smart city program. The ultimate goal of developing smart cities is to make life convenient for the people by facilitating access to public and economic services," he added.
He informed that there would be a blueprint for the smart city so that the administration can easily implement the concept.(*)
