Semarang (ANTARA News) - Thailands Royalty H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is scheduled to do an official state visit to Indonesia, during which she will visit the Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.

According to the information from the Thai Embassy in Jakarta received by ANTARA News here Thursday, it is the Princess that is scheduled to visit Indonesia instead of her mother Queen Sirikit. (See also: Thailands Queen scheduled to visit Borobudur)

The information released by the Embassy corrects the previous message, in which it was stated that the Queen was scheduled to visit Indonesia at the end of November.

Previously, a meeting between Thai Ambassador to Indonesia Paskorn Siriyaphan with Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo was carried out at the Regional Coordination building in Magelang on October 5.

Ambassador Paskorn Siriyaphan said that the majority of the Thai people who are Buddhists have developed a great interest in and admiration for the Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java, so much that they wish to visit it themselves.

"A lot of our citizens are very interested in visiting the Borobudur Temple, but they have difficulty in finding a direct flight route to Central Java," he said.

In relation to that, Ambassador Siriyaphan hopes to see the availability of direct flights from Bangkok, Thailand to Surakarta, Central Java, in the future.

At the moment, there are only direct flights from Bangkok to Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali), he said.

"I am ready to work towards the opening of new flight routes from Thailand to Central Java. It now depends on the provincial government," he continued.

He is also committed to promoting a number of tourist destinations in Central Java to the people of Thailand.

In response to that, Governor Pranowo stated that the Central Java Provincial Government will explore the bilateral cooperation with Thailand in the tourism, agriculture, investment and trade sectors.

"We will follow up the efforts towards the opening of a direct flight from Bangkok to Solo as the potentials for a tourism cooperation with Thailand are remarkable, especially with the fact that 95 percent of the Thai citizens are Buddhists," he said.
