Bandung, W Java, Oct 14 (ANTARA News) - Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Imam Nahrawi is scheduled to open the 15th National Paralympic Week (Peparnas XV 2016) in Siliwangi Stadium, Bandung Municipality, on Saturday.

"It is confirmed that the Minister of Transportation will attend the opening ceremony," Chair of Peparnas XV 2016, Ahmad Heryawan, said here during a ceremony to hoist 33 flags of participating provinces.

Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani will not be able to attend the opening ceremony due to other engangements, Heryawan, who is also the Governor of West Java, said.

Meanwhile, almost all of the contingents have arrived in Bandung, Heryawan added, "We are still waiting for the contingent from North Kalimantan to arrive."

The opening ceremony of Peparnas XV 2016 will involve around 400 dancers and 240 disabled artists who will fascinate the audience with several arts and musical performances.

There will be 2,355 disabled athletes from 33 provinces competing in 13 sports in the National Paralympic Week 2016 that will be held from 15-24 October.

The 13 sports disciplines are athletics, weightlifting, sitting volleyball, chess, tennis, table tennis, soccer, bowling, swimming, badminton, judo and goalball.
