The gubernatorial election will be held simultaneously with other regional head elections across Indonesia.
"We will be on guard and the people of Jakarta would have no reason to be anxious," Chief of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police, Inspector General M Iriawan, said here on Wednesday.
The police and military will make safety and conducive situation as their key priorities during the regional head election (Pilkada) in the capital city, he assured.
They also agreed to exchange information about the security aspects in Jakarta.
"The exchange of information will be ensured right from the level of leadership to the lowest ranks," the two-star general noted.
They will also monitor content on the social media which is prone to misuse and can be used to provoke others. The Jakarta Election Commission (KPU DKI) officially declared the candidate ballot numbers at its plenary meeting at the Jakarta International Expo here on Tuesday.
Three pairs of candidates for the posts of governor and vice governor received their ballot numbers for the Pilkada 2017.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni were allotted ballot number 1, incumbents Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok and Djarot Saiful Hidayat received ballot number 2 while Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno were given ballot number 3.
The campaign for pilkada will run from Oct 27, 2016 to February 11, 2017. The simultaneous pilkada will be held in 101 regions across Indonesia on February 15, 2017.(*)
