We reported the three gifts to Mr Agus Rahardjo."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday asked a Palace official to report three pieces of gift from a Russian company to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in line with the regulation.
Indonesian government officials are not allowed to receive gifts, which could be considered as a bribe.
The gifts - a painting, a tea set and poster- were handed over by head of the presidential secretariat Darmansyah Djumala directly to KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo.
The gifts were sent one by one to the president by a Russian oil company Rosnet via state-owned oil company PT Pertamina.
"We reported the three gifts to Mr Agus Rahardjo," Darmansyah said at the KPK building.
He said the gifts were sent to the president after his return from a recent visit to Russia.
"They were sent not directly to the president but via Pertamina," he added.
He said he did not know the value of the gifts or if they are linked to any project.
"But they look good and must be expensive," he said, adding the president asked me to report the gifts to KPK.
KPK would decide if the gifts are against the law or not, Darmansyah said.
