Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia State-owned arms manufaturer PT Pindad has launched a medium-sized tank at Indo Defense 2016 Expo and Forum here.

"We have issued the final design of the medium-sized tank as a new breakthrough. We can produce a new product with a new technology," the companys president director, Abraham Mose, said here on Thursday.

The medium tank design is the cooperation product between PT Pindad and Turkish defense company FNSS.

The design of the medium-sized tank has been signed by Indonesias defense minister Ryamizard Ryacudu.

Abraham Mose said the cooperation with Turkish company FNNS was an honor for Pindad to continue to learn and develop its capability.

"This is an honor for Pindad from the defense ministry allowing it to improve its capability in combat vehicle production. This is another step for Pindad to be able to be self-reliant," he said.

The process of medium-sized tank product development is divided into three stages in line with the cooperation range namely designing, prototyping and trials.

"The design that we are introducing now is the only one in the world because apart from being the result of researches by Pindad and FNSS it is also the implementation of the specifications produced by Pedi Indonesia," he said.

The joint development program has produced a design for a medium-sized tank consisting of latest ballistic defense and anti-mine capabilities.

The tank is completed with vast combat capabilities starting from protection of close-range infantry forces battle to combat vehicles battle with its main weapon which is a 150 mm canon that can also be used to launch a missile to increase its combat power.

The easy mobility of the tank is one of its superiority factors beside combat power specifications.

"The latest medium-sized tank model also has tactical and strategic capabilities supported by crushing power needed in wars.
