You must not be provoked. Keep smiling and let the police deal with them."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Dozens of people blocked the way when Djarot Saiful Hidayat, the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, tried to meet voters in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.

"Please be calm. We are here with good intentions and I merely seek to pass. They are ignorant. Do not fight with them. Leave the situation to the police," he told his supporters in reference to the incident.

Similar incidents have been invariably happening, disrupting Djarots efforts to meet voters for canvassing for the February 15 election.

As crowds swelled, he called on the people not to be provoked by what was happening.

"You must not be provoked. Keep smiling and let the police deal with them," he stressed.

The police later cleared the path for Djarot who then proceeded on his way along with his Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) and National Democrat Party (Nasdem) cadres, leaving the protesters behind.
