Sukabumi, W Java (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale jolted Sukabumi District, West Java, on Tuesday at 06:28 pm local time.

According to the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 7.43 degrees southern latitude and 106.51 degrees eastern longitude or 72 kilometers southwest of Sukabumi District.

"The tremor surprised me while I was watching TV at home. Immediately, I carried my child outside," Dina Nurlela, a resident of Benteng, Warudoyong Subdistrict of Sukabumi, said.

The tremor was also felt in Cikole Subdistrict.

"I panicked, especially after watching the news of the Aceh earthquake," Dimitri, a resident of Cikole, said after the earthquake.

BMKG stated that the earthquake had no tsunami potential.

There are no reports of damage so far.(*)
