The rally was aimed at urging the foreigners-supervising (Pora) team of the province to take firm action against illegal foreign workers, the rallys spokesman Azhar Hariman said.
"We still need jobs, but illegal foreign workers have taken over the jobs," he added.
He expressed hope that the West Java government-sanctioned team will take firm measures against the illegal foreign workers.
"Dont give an impression as if the Pora team does not work wholeheartedly to take action against illegal foreign workers," he stated.
Basically, he noted that he did not object to foreign workers employed in West Java but insisted that they must comply with the governments regulations.
During the rally, the workers also unfurled banners, which read "The governor, Endorse the minimum wages 2017 for Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta and Subang," "Scrap Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015" and "Reject the Revision of Law No. 13/2003 concerning manpower."
The protesters also urged the provincial government to deport illegal foreign workers.(*)
