Of the total projects, 78 have been accepted, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono saidJakarta (ANTARA News) - The Committee for Accelerated Procurement of Strategic Infrastructures (KPPIP) has proposed 117 new projects under the National Strategic Projects to complement those already set forth through the previous presidential decree.
Of the total projects, 78 have been accepted, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said, after a coordination meeting of KPPIP at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs here, Friday.
The 78 projects were accepted after the government eased the criteria for them to be considered strategic projects, he stated.
If the government had tightened the criteria, only 45 projects would have been accepted after evaluation, he added.
The new national strategic projects include the construction of Tebing Tinggi-Pematangsiantar-Parapat-Tarutung-Sibolga toll road in North Sumatra, Temef dama in East Nusa Tenggara, LNG Tangguh project in West Papua, Jambaran-Tiung Biru gas field in East Java, and Dumai Industrial Estate in Riau.
The proposal for a few other projects were not accepted because it lacked data and commitment on the part of the regional governments, he mentioned.
"The projects will be started between 2018 and 2019 at the latest," he said.
The ministry itself has proposed the construction of 24 new toll roads, four raw water projects, and 20 irrigation projects under the National Strategic Projects at a cost of Rp300 trillion, he remarked.
The new projects will need land clearance, he pointed out.
On Wednesday (January 8), President Joko Widodo signed Presidential Decree No.3/2017 which covers 225 national strategic projects and one electricity project with an investment of Rp2,862 trillion. (*)
