Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Landslides caused by heavy rains experienced from Thursday until early Friday destroyed several houses in three villages of Kintamani Sub-district, Bangli District, Bali Province, and killed 12 people, a local mitigation agencys official stated.

Four of the 12 dead victims were the residents of Mertha Hamlet, Awan Kintamani Village, after their house was buried by the landslide, Head of Bali Provinces Disaster Mitigation Agency Dewa Indra stated here Friday.

The landslides also buried several houses in the villages of Songan and Sukawana, killing eight others, he revealed.

The local residents and workers of the search and rescue team identified the victims as 27-year-old NI Kadek Arini, 10-year-old Ni Putu Natalia, 40-year-old Nengah Parmini, 45-year-old I Nyoman Budiarta, 50-year-old I Made Kawi, 33-year-old Jro Balian Resmi, seven-year-old Jro Balian Kadek Sriasih, one-year-old Komang Agus Putra Santi, 40-year-old Gede Sentana, 40-year-old Luh Bunga, 20-year-old Kadek, and 40-year-old Ni Luh Susun.

Several villagers were also injured due to the disaster, he added. (*)
