Thank you very much but the struggle is not yet finished," Ahok said at the residence of Megawati Soekarnoputri.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Incumbent governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) has called on all supporters to remain solid following the results of the vote on Wednesday that may lead to a run-off.
"We wish all political parties that have supported us, volunteers and supporters to remain solid and continue the fight to win the election," he said at a press conference here on Wednesday at the residence of Megawati Soekarnoputri, the general chairperson of the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP).
Megawati has nominated Ahok as candidate in the gubernatorial election with PDIP cadre Djarot Sjaiful Hidayat who is also vice governor as his running mate.
"We are grateful we have hard working supporters. Thank you very much but the struggle is not yet finished," he said.
Ahok and Djarot Saiful Hidayat won the vote on Wednesday according to quick counts by three survey institutes.
"We thank the coalition of parties - PDIP, Golkar, Nasdem and Hanura - that have supported us," he said.
According to the Indonesia Survey Institute (LSI), Polmark and Saiful Mujani Research Center (SMRC), Ahok-Djarot led in the vote, followed by Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno and Agus Harimurti-Sylviana Murni.
Ahok-Djarot won 43,2, 42.3 and 43.2 percent respectively according to LSI, Polmark and SMRC, while Anies-Sandi collected 39,9, 39,8 and 40,1 percent.
Agus-Silvi garnered 16,9 percent, 18,0 percent and 16,7 percent respectively according to the three survey institutes.
Ahok said the results showed that all the political parties that supported him had worked very well and for that he thanked them very much.
Ahok expressed readiness to fight again to meet the run-off election.
Official results by the Jakarta Election Commission are expected in the next few days that will determine if run-off election has to be held to decide the winner. (*)
