Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Reports about the death of leader of an ISIS group from Indonesia Bahrumsyah may not weaken terrorist cells affiliated to ISIS in Indonesia, a police spokesman said.

"We dont know their strength in Syria .We could not underestimate the strength of the cells in Indonesia with leaders Bahrumsyah and Bahrun Naim abroad," head of the police public relations division Ins.Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said here on Wednesday.

The terrorist cells such as Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) in the country are still active in a number of areas in Indonesia, Boy said.

Police are still to look for confirmation of the reported death of Bahrumsyah.

"We are still waiting for confirmation," Boy said, adding police could not say that the report was accurate.

It was reported earlier that an ISIS militant from Indonesia was killed in failed suicide bombing targeting Syrian troop Palmyra.

The car he drove suddenly exploded, the reports said.

ISIS said Bahrumsyah was killed but it said the mission of Abu Muhammad Al Indonesia "succeeded in destroying the enemy."

Terrorist cells affiliated to ISIS in Indonesia received instruction Bahrumsyah and Bahrum Naim in Syria, police have said earlier.

Bahrumsyah and Bahrum Naim were said to be experts in assembling bombs.(*)
