Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The state electric company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed contracts for 16 projects with a total generating capacity of 1,825.5 megawatts.

The projects are part of the government program to build new power plants with a total capacity of 35,000 MW until 2019.

The projects are valued at Rp21.1 trillion, PLN chief executive Sofyan Basir said at the signing ceremony here on Friday.

Sofyan said the projects use the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) scheme , adding it would include development of 500 KV transmission systems along the northern part of Java 928 kilometer long.
