"The Indonesian government would provide scholarship for 100 Afghan students," Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy said here on Wednesday.
The scholarship would be part of the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Afghanistan and the memorandum of understanding on cooperation that was signed earlier in the day, he stated.
Previously, President Joko Widodo noted in a joint press statement that Indonesia has built the Indonesia Islamic Center (IIC) in Kabul.
Jokowi pointed out that the IIC was aimed at encouraging the spread of Islam. It would provide facilities to perform prayers, as well as health and education facilities for the Afghan people.
The construction of Assalam Mosque in IIC complex has been completed, and it could accommodate 2.5 thousand people. The development of health and education facilities would also be completed soon.
The two countries have also agreed on cooperation on the development of human resources capacity building.
"So far, Indonesia has provided 47 training programs for 358 Afghans, including training program in agriculture, women empowerment, and governance administration," he remarked.
The president stated that Indonesia and Afghanistan have agreed to expand capacity building program in legal sector, housing, public works, fiscal policy, and higher education.(*)
