Meanwhile, the entire block construction is expected to be completed by mid-2019."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia Power, the subsidiary of Indonesias national electricity company PT. PLN, is expected to be the fourth Tanjung Priok gas and steam power plant to be operational by mid-2019.
General Manager of Indonesia Power Unit Priok Power Plant, Herdiyanto Soekono, stated here on Thursday that all the power plant blocks will be operational after the construction of four Priok power plants with a capacity of 850 megawatts (MW) is completed.
"The first phase of open cycle is expected to be completed by the middle of next year between May and July 2018. Meanwhile, the entire block construction is expected to be completed by mid-2019," Herdiyanto noted.
He explained that Indonesia Power, which manages Tanjung Priok gas, steam power plant, currently operates Block 1 and 2, with a combined cycle capacity of 1.18 thousand MW, and Block 3 with a total capacity of 740 MW.
The Priok gas and gas power plant block is part of the governments 35 thousand MW electricity supply acceleration program. In the future, electricity produced from Priok will be supplied to North Jakarta and its surrounding areas, as well as Bekasi area with 150 kilovolt (kV) subsystem network.
"Currently, we are supplying mostly to North Jakarta and Bekasi. There is a 150 kV system in Jakarta and a 500 kV system from outside Jakarta," Herdiyanto stated.
The Priok power plant is one of 22 units of power plants and power services managed by Indonesia Power.
Like its parent company PT. PLN, which generates an efficiency of Rp22.8 trillion (US$ 1.77 billion) in 2016, Indonesia Power also contributes to cost efficiency of electricity production by Rp2 trillion ($ 150.1 million) in 2017.
