Indonesia is ready to play a role and cooperate with the UN system to fight for common interests within the multicultural framework."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Hasan Kleib conveyed the governments commitment to continue cooperating with the UN.
"Indonesia is ready to play a role and cooperate with the UN system to fight for common interests within the multicultural framework," Kleib said as quoted in a statement received by ANTARA News, Thursday.
Ambassador Kleib handed over his credentials to UN Director General Michael Moller in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday (April 26).
After welcoming the ambassador, Moller discussed common issues that have been a concern for the UN and other international organizations based in Geneva.
Some of the issues raised during the discussion were the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and progress in disarmament negotiations.
Both also discussed some initiatives led by the UN Director General in Geneva, such as the heritage strategic plan program to renovate the UN complex in Geneva and the International Geneva Gender Champions.
Prior to Ambassador Kleibs experience as a special envoy of the Indonesian president for SDGs, Moller sought the ambassadors support for every UN program related to SDGs.
He also hoped that Kleib would join several ambassadors to participate in the International Geneva Gender Champions, a program to promote gender equality and empowerment.
Responding positively to the request, Ambassador Kleib committed to enhancing cooperation and coordination with the UN in order to achieve mutual interests.
