"The Switzerland government is interested to enhance cooperation in health sector with Indonesian government," the Switzerland Health Minister Alain Berset said in a press release received here on Wednesday.
Indonesian Health Minister Nila Moeloek signed the cooperation agreement on Monday during a bilateral meeting with Berset during the sidelines of World Health Assembly 70th in Geneva.
Berset stated that both countries have potential cooperation in health sector, such as capacity building and health research, which can be developed further.
The ministers also agreed on cooperation on sharing knowledge in medicine and vaccine research.
The Switzerland government also supported World Health Organization on eradicating program for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) by providing fund worth $60 million to members of WHO, including Indonesia.
The Swiss government will support Indonesia to eradicate tropical diseases such as malaria, schistosomiasis, and leprosy.
Berset also offered cooperation in drugs problem as Switzerland also has experience in tackling the problem of drugs.
Both countries also agreed to continue exploring cooperation by organizing seminars that will present several experts to discuss potential health cooperation.(*)
