"What is important in the use of renewable energy resources is that the price must be competitive," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignatius Jonan said here on Thursday night (June 8).
Further, according to Jonan, new and renewable energy technology will not be worthwhile if the price is high, because it will not be affordable by the wider community.
In the meeting, Jonan added, Indonesia continues to implement its commitment in using clean energy, according to the COP 21 (Conference of the Parties) agreement which was signed by President Joko Widodo in December 2015 in Paris, France.
"We continue to encourage the use of new and renewable energy, such as hydropower, solar, geothermal, waste, biomass, and wind," Jonan said.
The annual conference saw participation by ministers and high officials from 24 countries.
During the conference Minister Jonan had the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese officials.(*)
