"While various incidents have occurred in Jakarta in the past eight months, people in East Java lead a cool, calm, and harmonious life," he stated on the sidelines of a get-together with military and police personnel and community members here on Friday.
Nurmantyo believed that the people of East Java will continue to live in harmony, as they respect and comply with the directives issued by their ulemas.
"Thank God that I can hold a get-together with the ulemas, TNI soldiers, marines, and police personnel as well as residents," he noted.
Earlier in the day, the TNI chief had inaugurated a swimming pool in the premises of the Bhumi Marinir Karangpilang Marine Corps in Surabaya. (*)
