"We must keep ICMI as a pioneer and should practice the philosophy of intellectuals. Let us change our world with science," he remarked during an Iftar event here on Thursday.
The fast-breaking event was attended by Jimly Asshidiqie, former chairman of the Constitutional Court; Aburizal Bakrie, former chairman of Golkar Party; Sandiaga Uno, deputy governor elect of Jakarta; and Marissa Haque, former artist.
According to Kalla, ICMI should actually be able to convene in a bid to help solve the nations problems.
Although ICMI is not a political organization, its members have come from various circles, including political parties that can be initiators to solve the nations problems.
"ICMI can become a super faction because a number of its members are from political parties. That is why, we must keep the philosophy of intellectuals," Kalla disclosed.
In addition to reminding the importance of fraternity, Kalla noted that Muslim intellectuals should also mobilize a scientific society and not just rely on emotions and personal assumptions. (*)
