It was officially delivered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a joint press statement after a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White Palace here on Thursday.
"Indonesia appreciates Turkeys support for Indonesias candidacy in the UN Security Council nomination for 2019-2020," Jokowi stated.
The support was officially delivered earlier by Turkey, and on the occasion of meeting with Erdogan, Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for the support.
Earlier, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi had asserted that Turkey has expressed support for Indonesia in its bid for the UN Security Council for 2019-2020.
"Turkey has provided support for our UNSC candidacy for 2019-2020," Retno noted.
Thus, the support from various countries makes Indonesia more optimistic to get a place in the UNSC.
"Maldives is our only rival. If God willing, we can achieve it," she asserted, adding that Indonesias potential to get the position was quite high.(*)
