Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian and Chinese police have identified the victims of cyber crime committed by an international syndicate from China operating in the country.

Chairman of the Team of Jakarta Police Criminal Police Special Task Forced Adj. Sr. Comr. Didik Sugiarto said it is not yet known if there is Indonesian among the victims.

Obviously the syndicate targets and seek to extort Chinese citizens in Indonesia . The syndicate members posed as law enforcing officer asking the victims to pay a certain amount of money otherwise they would be brought back to China to face criminal charges.

On Saturday, the Indonesian and Chinese police raided locations used by the syndicate members from China and Taiwan in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali, and arrested suspects.

In Jakarta, 29 Chinese including 12 women were arrested from a location at Jalan Sekolah Duta Pondok Indah Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

In Bali, 31 people were arrested including 17 Chinese and 10 Taiwanese Indonesian and Chinese police also from a house at the complex of Puri Bendesa, Benoa Kuta Selatan in the regency of Badung.

Ten of the Chinese and Taiwanese are women, and one of the Indonesians is a woman.

In Surabaya, 93 suspects were rounded up from three places - at Jalan Mutiara Graha Family Blok N-1 Bukit Darmo Golf Surabaya, Jalan Graha Family Timur 1 Blok E-68 Bukit Darmo Golf and Jalan Graha Family Timur 1 Blok E-58 Bukit Darmo Golf.

The 93 suspects included 81 Chinese and 12 Taiwanese(*)
