Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to question six witnesses in its investigation into an e-ID card graft case.

"The six will be questioned as witnesses in the case against Setya Novanto (SN)," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said here on Monday.

The six are Kurniawan Prasetyta Atmaja, chief of national identity number and family card biodata section of resident registration directorate of demography and vital statistics directorate general at the Home Affairs Ministry; Dian Hasanah, staff member of demographic monitoring, evaluation, and supervision sub-directorate of demographic development directorate of demography and vital statistics directorate general at the Home Affairs Ministry; and Mahmud, a former chief of institutional system section of administrative information management directorate of demography and vital statistics directorate general at the Home Affairs Ministry.

The others are Arie Pujianto, a lawyer; Maman Budiman, a lecturer of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB); and Mudji Rachmat Kurniawan, a member of the board of commissioner of PT Softorb Technology Indonesia.

The anti-graft body on Monday (July 17) named Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Novanto as a suspect in the e-ID card graft case.

"The KPK has found sufficient preliminary evidence to name another suspect. The KPK has named SN, who was a DPR member for the 2009-2014 term, as a suspect for allegedly enriching himself, another person, or corporation by abusing power, facilities, or post, thereby causing the state to suffer Rp2.3 trillion in losses from the procurement of (e-ID cards) worth Rp5.9 trillion," KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo said.

Novanto is charged with violating article 2 paragraph (1) of Law No.31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on corruption eradication article 55 paragraph (1) of the Penal Code.

On Thursday (July 20), the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Irman, former director general of demography and vital statistics at the Home Affairs Ministry, to seven years in prison, and Sugiharto, former director of administrative information management of demography and vital statistics directorate general at the Home Affairs Ministry, to five years in jail, for their involvement in the case.(*)
