Based on a press statement from the embassy received here on Friday, the embassy has appealed to all Indonesian citizens in Spain, especially Barcelona, to always be alert and cautious and stay abreast of the developing situation in places they intend to visit.
Earlier, 13 people were killed and at least 50 others injured following a terrorist attack in Barcelona City on Thursday afternoon. The attack occurred at the Las Rambas area, Barcelona, at around 5 p.m. local time.
Las Ramblas is a well-known area in Barcelona that is visited by several tourists. The area has several shops, taverns, and restaurants.
With regard to the security situation after the terror attack, the embassy has called on the Indonesian citizens in Spain to temporarily avoid crowded places.
Indonesian citizens in Spain have also been encouraged to always prepare themselves and carry along documents, especially identity cards, while traveling outdoors.
In addition, Indonesian citizens in Spain are encouraged to immediately consult and notify friends, family, or the embassy if they need information about the situation in certain places in Spain.

Based on information provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, no reports have, so far, been received about Indonesian citizens who became victims of the terror attack in Las Ramblas, Barcelona.
According to the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, the number of Indonesian citizens in Barcelona reaches about 120, and overall, some 1,620 Indonesian citizens reside in Spain.(*)
