Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said performance in budget fund spending in 2017 hit a record high since 2014.

Spending reached 92.8 percent or Rp208.4 trillion of the target set in the 2017 state budget up from 82 percent in the previous year, the minister told reporters here on Tuesday.

She said the increase in the spending ratio indicated the government`s strong commitment to carrying on with its infrastructure development program.

The capital spending in 2017 was better in performance compared with 91.6 percent in 2014; around 86.2 percent in 2015 and 82 percent in 2016.

Improvement in the quality of spending by the government was not only in the ratio to budget but also in the efficiency of civil servant spending and social aid and subsidy which is closer to target, she said.

Civil servant spending reached Rp759.6 trillion or 95.1 percent of the target, spending on goods reached Rp286.7 trillion or 96.9 percent of the target and social aid spending reached Rp54.6 trillion or 100 percent of the target.

Spending by ministries and other government agencies reached Rp759.6 trillion or 95.1 percent of the target and spending by non government agencies such as subsidies reached Rp500 trillion or 88 percent of the target of Rp568.4 trillion.

Altogether, spending by the central government reached Rp1,259.6 trillion or 92.1 percent of the target of Rp1,367 trillion set in the 2017 state budget.

"All spending related to the welfare of the people and economic development grew positively. This is in line with the goal of the state budget to protect the people from a shock from the commodity price fall and to keep the growth momentum of not shrinking to below 5 percent," Sri Mulyani added.
