Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday that 10 Indonesians have been arrested by the Malaysian Police (Polisi Diraja Malaysia/PDRM) in connection with the murder of a Malaysian national.

"It is true, there are 10 Indonesian citizens arrested by the PDRM. The arrests were related to a murdered Malaysian national, and one severely injured Indonesian national," Director of Indonesian Protection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lalu Muhammad Iqbal stated in a message received here on Friday.

The local Malaysian police is investigating the matter to find the main suspect in the crime.

Sina Alam, the local media of Malaysia, reported on Thursday that the 10 suspects were arrested in Shah Alam for the murder of a cosmetic merchant.

The victim, identified as Mohd Nor Syazrin from Kupang, Kedah, Malaysia, was with a woman and two migrant workers when he was attacked in Pasar Malam Sri Muda, Shah Alam, on January 5, Chief of Shah Alam Police Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat revealed to the local media.

The victim is believed to have been killed by four people from Indonesia.

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has been following the case and coordinating with the local authorities in Malaysia.

"We have not been able to provide more information as the authorities are still focused on finding the main suspect," Iqbal said.
