Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Thursday questioned an official of the National Land Agency (BPN) office in North Jakarta as a witness in an alleged graft case related to the Jakarta Bay Reclamation project.

"The questioning is intended to find whether or not the issuance of land certificate violated the regulation," spokesman for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono stated.

Argo noted that the police will trace all the procedures and requirements of issuing the land certificate or building use the right of the Jakarta Bay Reclamation Project.

The police will also investigate the sales value of tax objects (NJOP) of islets C and D in Jakarta Bay, which is believed to be abnormal, he remarked.

Earlier, the police had questioned three witnesses from the Regional Tax and Levies Board (BPRD). They are the chief of the board`s regulation section, the chief of the board`s planning section, and an employee of the board.

The results of investigation indicate embezzlement of state funds for the reclamation of islets C and D in Jakarta Bay.

The embezzlement of state fund is found in the sales value of tax objects (NJOP) of islets C and D in Jakarta Bay, set by the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Assembly at Rp3.1 million per square meter. But the figure was marked from Rp25 million to Rp30 million per square meter.
