Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially named Subang Regent Imas Aryumningsih a suspect in a graft case over business license.

"Imas Aryumningsih is detained for further investigations," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said here on Thursday.

Imas was arrested together with three other suspects - businessmen Miftahhudin , courier Data and head of the Licensing department of the district Capital Investment office Asep Santika.

The four are held at the KPK detention houses here for 20 days, Febri said, adding they would be needed by the KPK investigators.

After being grilled from Wednesday until well past 01.00 on Thursday, Imas denied the charge against him saying he received no bribe for the license.

"I knew nothing of the charge. KPK picked me from my house and was brought here. I don`t understand as I received no money from Miftahhudin," he added.

Imas is charged with accepting Rp1.4 billion from Miftahhudin to issue licenses for PT ASP and PT PBM to operate and build factories in Subang.

He said the licensing procedure is handled by the capital investment office.

Imas is seeking reelection that would cost him a lot of money for political campaigns ahead of the forthcoming regional election in June, 2018.

On Tuesday night, KPK rounded up eight persons including the four new suspects in Subang, and brought them to Jakarta for investigations.

Febri said the KPK confiscated an amount of money from the eight believed to be a bribe for project license.

KPK already arrested a number of other incumbent candidates for the forthcoming regional elections.

Observers said the incumbent candidates had been prompted to commit corruption as they would need a lot of money to finance pre-election campaigns.
