Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Organization of Islam Cooperation (OIC) has agreed on the Indonesian proposals related to employment issues, such as the mutual recognition of improvement of workers' skills and recommendation of bilateral agreements on labor exchange.

"The approval of the two proposals is one of achievement for Indonesia, as the chairman of the Manpower Ministerial Meeting Forum of OIC, to promote the improvement of global employment issues, particularly among OIC member states," the Director General of Coaching and Expansion of Manpower and Employment Opportunities for the Ministry of Manpower, Maruli A Hasoloan, stated during the forum held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.

According to the press release received by ANTARA here on Thursday, the two documents have been agreed at the senior officials' meeting of the OIC Manpower Ministerial Meeting.

The documents were signed by manpower ministers of OIC member states. The Indonesian Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri also attended the meeting.

Dhakiri served as the chairman of the Manpower Ministerial Meeting of the OIC in the 2015-2017 period.

The chairman of the ministerial meeting for the next two years will be the Labor Minister of Saudi Arabia, Ali Bin Nasser Al Ghufaes.

The replacement will be carried out during the OIC Forum in Jeddah.

Maruli added that the benefits of the ratified documents include the recognition of the competence and qualification of Indonesian skilled workers among the OIC member countries.

The document also improves Indonesia`s position in the cooperation of Indonesian migrant workers placement.

Additionally, the document also agreed on the protection for Indonesian migrant workers who prioritize the principle of decent work.

The ministerial meeting is held every two years. The conference held in Jeddah is the fourth meeting that raised the theme of "Developing a Common Strategy for Manpower Development."
