Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo inaugurates Heru Winarko as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to replace Commissioner General of Police Budi Waseso who enters retirement age.

The inauguration that took place at the State Palace was based on Presidential Decree No. 14 M of 2018 on the Dismissal and Appointment of the BNN Head that was dated on February 28, 2018.

Winarko also pronounced the oath of office headed by Widodo which reads:

"For God`s sake, I swear that I will be faithful and obedient to the 1945 Constitution and will implement all laws and regulations strictly for my devotion to the nation and state. In carrying out the duty of office, I will uphold the ethics of the office as well as possible and with full sense of responsibility. May Allah give ease and strength in carrying out the mandate."

Winarko had previously served as Deputy for Corruption Eradication Commission that was inaugurated on October 15, 2015.

Winarko who was a graduate of the Police Academy in 1985 had also served as a staff of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the field of Ideology and Constitution.

In 2012, he served as Lampung Police Chief and served in the Directorate of Special Economic Police Headquarters in 2009 and Directorate of Corruption Crime Police Headquarters in 2010.

He has also been awarded a number of honors including Satya Lencana Kesetiaan (Badge of Allegiance) VIII, Satya Lencana Kesetiaan (Badge of Allegiance) XVI, Satya Lencana Kesetiaan (Badge of Allegiance) XXIV, Satya Lencana Dwidja Sistha, Satya Lencana Karya Bhakti, Satya Lencana Ksatria Tamtama and Bintang Bhayangkara Nararya.
