Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A senior Indonesian security minister assured here on Wednesday that implementation of elections in the country this year and next year would not disrupt investment security.

"Although there will be regional elections in 2018 and legislative as well as presidential elections in 2019 we can guarantee stability will be maintained," Coordinating Minister for Security, Political and Legal Affairs Wiranto said after receiving Senior Vice President & Regional Managing Director of US-ASEAN Business Council Michael Michalak and delegation at his office.

He admitted that security had been one of the topics discussed at the meeting.

He said investment stability would br maintained because a numbet of ministries, institutions and offices would cooperate to secure the implementation of the elections.

He stated that investment is needed for increasing national economic development, employment and also for transfer of technology.

In view of that investment may not be disrupted, he said.

A total of 171 regions including 17 out of 34 provinces in the country will conduct elections simultaneously to elect provincial governors, district heads and city mayors on June 27 this year.

Legislative and presidential elections meanwhile are scheduled simultaneously in April next year.
