Director of Indonesian Citizens Protection, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, stated in a text message received here on Wednesday that the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh was informed about Cahyati`s death soon after local police of Cambodia broke into a hotel room where she was reportedly staying in on Sunday evening (March 25).
"The deceased was estimated to be murdered three days before she was found," Iqbal noted.
The Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia is currently gathering more information about the case by coordinating with local police and the victim`s family.
On Monday, representatives from the Foreign Affairs Ministry met the victim`s family in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.
The embassy is also coordinating with a local hospital to find out the result of the visum.
The Indonesian Embassy will also oversee the legal process to confirm the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the alleged murder, Iqbal revealed.
Media reported that the suspected culprit was Cahyati`s husband, who is a US citizen.
