To enhance Indonesia`s chairmanship in the South-South and Triangular cooperation, the ministry has organized a national seminar at the Education Development Study Institute of Hasanuddin University in the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar, the ministry noted in a press statement released on Thursday.
Chief of the Multilateral Policy Assessment and Development Center of the Foreign Ministry Dindin Wahyudin remarked that Indonesia had always prioritized the development of developing nations through the South-South cooperation by relying on its best practices.
"As one of Indonesia`s instruments of diplomacy, realization of the South-South cooperation is also certainly directed towards fulfilling national interests," he remarked.
Hence, he expressed hope that the seminar would rouse public interest and encourage initiatives in the realization of the South-South cooperation.
The seminar featured government officials, academics, development partners, and non-governmental organizations.
The seminar is aimed at increasing public knowledge of Indonesia`s commitment and efforts to promote cooperation among developing nations, or South countries.
A similar seminar had earlier been held at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, Padjajaran University in Bandung, Brawijaya University in Malang, and Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta.
Director of Foreign Policy and International Development Cooperation of the National Development Planning Agency Dewo Broto Joko Putranto reiterated Indonesia`s commitment to international peace and development through the South-South cooperation.
