"The race in Baku City will be very interesting, and the fast-track circuit with the panoramic view of the historic building and the beauty of the lake will be fantastic".Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s seeded racer, Sean Gelael, has targeted to earn points in the second Formula 2 series scheduled to be held on April 28 in Baku City, Azerbaijan, following the first series that was held in Bahrain.
Based on the data gathered in Jakarta, on Thursday, the racer, who is under the Pertamina Prema Theodore Racing team, is currently ranked in the 8th standing position, with six points. The opportunity for Gelael to acquire more points is rather open, as he is quite experienced in the Baku circuit.
"Hopefully, we could achieve the ideal setting for the engine. Racing in Baku is quite challenging, but we surely will give our best to showcase the best performance," he noted in a statement.
This season, the son of Ricardo and Rini Gelael is considerably more experienced, as he had also gained more understanding about the Baku circuit, which is a street circuit with 20 curves and with a length of 6 kilometers.
Meanwhile, Head of the Pertamina Prema Theodore Racing team, Rene Rosin, admitted to be quite optimistic about the rider`s chances. During this time, the Prema team always has a good record on the Baku City Circuit. Two years ago, the team managed to secure the first and second positions on the podium with riders Antonio Giovinazzi and Pierre Gasly. Last season, Charles Leclerc also earned his spot on the main podium.
"The race in Baku City will be very interesting, and the fast-track circuit with the panoramic view of the historic building and the beauty of the lake will be fantastic," Rosin stated. The Baku City circuit is almost the same as the Macau circuit, and it would challenge the ways on how the team seeks to get a balanced car setting.
The Pertamina Prema Theodore Racing team also relied on Nyck De Vries for the race in Baku City. The Dutch rider has had a valuable experience after packing points in two races in Bahrain. De Vries also had a good experience in Baku City. Last season, he earned a podium of two in feature races.
"Looking at the results of the race in Bahrain, there is the potential that our rider would gain more points again. Sean and Nyck are already showing the attitude we want, and we will work hard to be able to repeat the previous success in Baku City," Rosin added.
