The Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media in the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, said, in Jakarta on Friday, the IMT-GT Summit aimed to encourage the welfare of the people of the three countries along with the region.
Machmudin said Jokowi was also scheduled to have bilateral meetings with Myanmar`s President and the Prime Minister of Vietnam on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit. Jokowi left on Friday afternoon for Singapore on the presidential plane Indonesia-1 from the Air Force Base Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta. He was seen off by the Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno, and the Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan.
The 32nd ASEAN Summit will discuss regional cooperation and other international issues. One is related to the development of smart cities with a focus on infrastructure, human development and cyber security. The leaders will also seek to promote the concept of peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Indo-Pacific cooperation.
The President and his entourage plan to return to the country on Saturday evening. The President also hoped that the Summit with the theme "Resilient and Innovative Asean" would make the region peaceful, stable and prosperous.
Accompanying the President is the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Darmin Nasution, the Chief of Staff of the President, Moeldoko, the Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, the Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andri Hadi, the Private Secretary of the President, Anggit Noegroho, the Special Staff of the President, Ari Dwipayana, the Military Secretary of the President, Vice-Marshal Trisno Hendradi, and the Presidential Guard Commander, Maj. Gen. TNI Suhartono.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has been in Singapore to prepare for the arrival of President Jokowi and attend ministerial meetings.
